Controlled-pilot policy

This document is ready for pilot review but still requires Ontario counsel approval before StorBids opens live auctions to the public.

01

Agreement and scope

These terms apply when you browse StorBids, create an account, manage a facility, watch an auction, bid, pay a StorBids buyer premium, or use pickup tools. By creating an account or placing a bid, you agree to these terms and the auction-specific disclosures shown before confirmation.

You must be at least 18 and legally able to enter the transaction. If you act for a business or facility, you confirm that you have authority to bind it. Mandatory consumer rights that cannot lawfully be waived remain in effect.

02

StorBids and the facility

StorBids provides the marketplace, account, bidding, payment-reference, notification, and pickup-workflow technology. The storage facility is the seller or lien claimant and remains responsible for its legal authority to sell, notices, redemption rights, auction terms, taxes, deposits, access, and the property it offers.

StorBids does not own the unit contents and does not provide legal advice. A facility may withdraw or pause an auction when redemption, title, safety, privacy, court process, or applicable law requires it.

For Ontario pilot auctions, facilities must independently confirm compliance with the Repair and Storage Liens Act and all other applicable requirements before publication.

03

Accounts and eligibility

  • Provide accurate identity and contact information, keep one personal account, and protect your password and verification links.
  • Buyer accounts must verify email and keep an authorized payment method before bidding. Facility manager access requires StorBids approval and proof of facility authority.
  • Do not share accounts, impersonate another person, use automated bidding access, or attempt to access another user's private information.
  • Tell StorBids promptly if an account or payment method may be compromised.
04

Bids and auction operation

A confirmed bid is binding and may be accepted automatically through proxy bidding. The auction may extend under the displayed soft-close rule when a late bid is placed. The highest valid bid at close is subject to facility authority, reserve terms if shown, and lawful withdrawal.

Shill bidding, collusion, bid manipulation, interference, scraping, abusive conduct, and bidding without a genuine ability or intention to complete payment and pickup are prohibited. Contact support immediately if you believe a material input or platform error affected a bid.

Countdowns are provided for convenience. StorBids' server time, accepted bid records, and audit trail govern the auction outcome.

05

Listings and condition of contents

Listings describe only what can reasonably be seen in approved photos, video, and facility-provided information. Hidden, unseen, boxed, obscured, or partially visible contents are not guaranteed. Unless mandatory law says otherwise, auction contents are sold as-is and where-is without warranties of quality, quantity, authenticity, fitness, resale value, or condition.

Do not treat visible-item labels, estimated values, image analysis, or search tags as an appraisal or inventory. Review every image, facility rule, cost, deadline, and pickup condition before bidding.

06

Costs, currency, and payment

  • The listing shows its currency, current bid, StorBids buyer premium, known taxes, cleaning deposit, facility fees, and estimated total before bid confirmation.
  • StorBids charges only the disclosed buyer premium after a win using the authorized payment method. The winning bid, applicable taxes, facility fees, cleaning deposit, and every other remaining amount are paid in person at the facility.
  • You authorize StorBids and its payment processor to create payment references, verify the card, and collect only the disclosed buyer premium you accepted. StorBids does not receive or store full card numbers or CVCs.
  • Unpaid premiums may block new bids and pickup scheduling. Chargebacks or payment disputes do not cancel valid facility obligations.
07

Pickup, cleanout, and restricted property

Winning bidders must follow the auction's pickup deadline, appointment rules, identification requirements, access instructions, deposit terms, and cleanout standard. The Pickup Policy forms part of these terms.

If you encounter weapons, hazardous materials, controlled substances, sensitive personal records, or other restricted property, stop handling it and follow the Prohibited Items Policy. You receive only the rights the facility is legally able to convey.

08

Privacy and communications

The Privacy Policy explains how StorBids handles account, bidding, payment-reference, location-preference, facility, and support information. Transactional messages about verification, bids, payment, pickup, safety, or account status are part of operating the service.

Promotional auction alerts require the consent described at signup or in notification settings. You can turn those alerts off without closing your account.

09

Suspension, cancellation, and enforcement

StorBids may restrict, suspend, or close an account; reject a listing; invalidate abusive or fraudulent activity; or preserve records when reasonably necessary for safety, fraud prevention, legal compliance, payment protection, or marketplace integrity. We will use proportionate measures and preserve the audit trail.

A platform suspension does not erase completed bids, payment obligations, facility claims, pickup duties, or rights that arose before suspension.

10

Liability, disputes, and governing law

To the fullest extent permitted by law, StorBids is not responsible for facility acts or omissions, the condition or legality of unit contents, buyer resale outcomes, travel or removal costs, or indirect and consequential losses. Nothing here excludes liability or remedies that applicable law does not permit us to exclude.

Raise platform issues promptly through StorBids support and facility-specific property or access issues with the facility. These platform terms are governed by Ontario law and disputes concerning StorBids are submitted to courts in Ontario, subject to mandatory law and any facility-specific jurisdiction that must apply.

Liability limits, dispute language, and any future United States state addenda must be approved by counsel before public launch.

11

Changes and contact

We may update these terms when the product, law, or pilot scope changes. Material changes will receive a new version and effective date, and we may require renewed acceptance before bidding.

Questions about these terms can be sent to support@storbids.com. Include the auction title and unit number when the question concerns a specific sale.
